New Season of “Italian Night at the Movies” at Tropic Cinema to raise funds for youth scholarships

The Sons and Daughters of Italy Key West Lodge #2436 is partnering with the Tropic Cinema for a new season of the popular “Italian Night at the Movies” series, which supports a scholarship fund for high school seniors of Italian descent and other local charities. The series kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 7 and continues on the first Wednesday of each month through May 2027.

Launching this year’s series is “Road to the Lemon Grove,” a multi-award-winning English language comedy/romance released in 2018 and set in the U.S. and Italy, starring Burt Young, Rossella Brescia, Nick Mancuso, Charly Chiarelli, Tomaso Sanelli, and Loreena McKennitt as the voice of God.

In an attempt to negotiate his way into heaven, a deceased, old-school Sicilian father stuck in limbo undertakes to repair his relationship with his reluctant son, reunite his feuding family back in Italy, and help all find love in places they never imagined. 

Doors open at 5:30 pm, film starts at 6:15 pm and includes a complimentary “taste of Italy” courtesy of Conchiglia before the film. The evening will also include a chance drawing. Italian wines will be available for purchase at the Tropic Cinema concession stand.

Tickets are $20 per person and are available online at keystix.com or day-of at the Tropic Cinema, 416 Eaton Street. Series tickets are also available: purchase eight movies for $140 or purchase four and receive the fifth at half-price.
