Key West Woman’s Club Invites the Community and Visitors to Celebrate 110 Years of Community Service at Key West Historic Days Celebration

Key West, FL – The Key West Woman’s Club is excited to announce the Key West Historic Days Celebration, a four-day event commemorating the Club’s 110th anniversary and celebrating the rich history of Key West. The festivities will be held from April 3–6, 2025, at the Hellings Curry Museum, the historic home of the Key West Woman’s Club, located at 319 Duval Street, Key West, FL 33040. This celebration will highlight the Club's significant role in the community and the island’s cultural heritage.

About the Key West Woman’s Club
Founded in 1915, the Key West Woman’s Club has been dedicated to fostering community improvement and social welfare. Over the years, the Club has been instrumental in establishing libraries, advocating for women's rights, and supporting various local charities. Today, the Club continues its mission of giving back, focusing on preserving Key West's history and supporting current and future generations through charitable programs.
The Hellings Curry Museum, housed in a historic Queen Anne-style building dating back to 1892, serves as the heart of the Woman’s Club. It stands as a symbol of community preservation, making it the perfect location to celebrate both the Club's anniversary and the island's unique history.

Event Highlights

• Pre-Event Kick-Off – Wednesday, April 2
  Enjoy a special screening of Reap the Wild Wind at 4:00 PM at 416 Eaton Street. Dr. Corey Malcom, Historian at the Florida Keys History Center, will introduce the film, followed by Dr. Marlene Thorn of the Key West Woman’s Club, who will present an overview of the upcoming celebration. This free event is limited to 150 attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Day 1 – Thursday, April 3: Celebrating Our Legacy
  • Opening Ceremony: Join us at the Hellings Curry Museum for registration and event information.
  • Free Docent Tours: Explore the Hellings Curry Museum, the Red Barn Theatre, and the Oldest House.
  • Live Music: Enjoy performances by the Key West High School Steel Drum Band, The End of the Road Ukulele Gang, and Camille Toler.
  • Happy Hour: Relax with music and refreshments.
  • Keynote Speaker: Susan Mitchell will discuss "Women Get Things Done!", highlighting the Club's contributions over the past 110 years.
  • Panel Discussion and Appetizers by the Key West Cooking School: Learn about Captain Hellings and Eleanor Curry from Curry family descendants.
• Day 2 – Friday, April 4: Exploring Homes and Cultural Heritage
  • Walking Tours: Participate in tours of Historic Key West and the Curry Homes.
  • Trolley Tour: Experience a guided tour by Historic Tours of America.
  • Presentation and Panel: Dr. Cori Convertito moderates "Echoes of the Island: Growing Up In Key West" at the Tropic Cinema, 416 Eaton Street.
  • After Party: Celebrate at the Hellings Curry Museum with an open bar, appetizers, and desserts.
  • Live Music: Enjoy a performance by The Privateers Band.
• Day 3 – Saturday, April 5: Festival Day
  • Market & Festival: Visit the vibrant market showcasing local artisans, food vendors, and more.
  • Conch Cooking Competition: Watch local chefs compete to create the best conch dish.
  • Culinary Panel by Dr. Roberta Isleib: Enjoy tastings by Chef Martha Hubbard.
  • Raffle Drawing: Win one of five themed baskets. No need to be present to win.
  • Closing Festival Party: Enjoy food, music, and festivities to conclude the celebration.
  • Live Music: Dance the night away with Conch Fusion.
• Day 4 – Sunday, April 6: High Tea Celebration
  • High Tea: Attend a relaxing and elegant gathering featuring traditional teas and treats, bringing together community members and visitors to celebrate the past.
