MONROE COUNTY, FL – The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners declared November as College of the Florida Keys (CFK) month at its regularly scheduled meeting. The commissioners were joined by CFK President Dr. Jonathan Gueverra and other key college staff and board members to celebrate 60 years as the college continues to sail toward new opportunities and a brighter future. Starting as Monroe Junior College in August 1965 and expanding to what it is today, CFK features campuses throughout the Florida Keys, state-of-the-art classrooms and labs, learning spaces, marine vessels, a waterfront residence hall, an academic academy, and more.

CFK will host its annual Community Day on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Key West Stock Island campus. This festival will feature live performances, children's activities, academic showcases, arts and crafts, vendors, local organizations, music, free food and drinks, and free t-shirts. The college will also unveil a historical exhibit to kick off the 60th anniversary year. As tradition, please bring in non-perishables for the food pantry food drive.
