Duval Square’s JAG Gallery invites you to step into a world exploding in color, texture and abstraction as Key West Pottery’s Kelly Lever returns, this time for a solo show wherein the natural beauty of tropical plants is refracted through the lens of modern painting techniques.  Kelly’s new collection of acrylics explores the tension between realism and abstraction, employing unconventional methods to reveal not only that which is  is visually evident, but what is felt, experienced and imagined in the presence of nature’s most vibrant forms.

New Works from B. Lucy Stevens and Lisa Brunn At Jag Gallery
Duval Square’s Jag Gallery welcomes the return of popular Key West artist and instructor B. Lucy Stevens along with one of the gallery’s popular and emerging artists, Lisa Brunn for a two person show of new works from a pair of artists with very different styles, who prove the fact that opposites really do attract.
 
 B. Lucy Stevens arrives with a new collection of mixed media works on paper, canvas and panel; gleeful, colorful, amusing, and messaged intuitive paintings featuring another delightful array of her signature people and animals, inhabitants of a land of folly.  Lisa Brunn, unveils a fresh new body of work, also on canvas and panel; peaceful, non representative abstracts in a slightly limited, yet soothing palette, paintings which begin with no intent in mind but end flawlessly inviting.

GROWERS: Opening at Jag Gallery New Works from Tory Mata and Natalie Bissell

Key West’s JAG Gallery announces an exhibition from two award winning artists opening Wednesday February 12th.  GROWERS features Key West and gallery favorite Tort Mata returning with a stunning, and inviting new collection of landscapes in a warm and subtle palette inspired by the varied land and sky of some of her favorite places from New Mexico to Cape Cod in her home state of Massachusetts to her surroundings for over a decade here in Key West.  Notably, this is a joyful and timely return for the artist to landscape painting, something Tory has admitted missing.
 
The exhibition also welcomes a new artist to the Key West Art Community, Natalie Bessell.  A native of San Diego, Natalie has lived in Australia since 2021.   A multimedia artist with a focus on painting, her recent work primarily involves oil and pastels on wood and painted glazed on ceramics, drawing inspiration from her life as a new mother and the surrounding elements of nature in the semi-rural beach town where she lives on the Mornington Peninsula along with “a general fascination with that which is ordinary and that which is magnificent.”
 
All are invited to a gallery reception on Wednesday February 12th from 5-7  GROWERS continues through March 2nd.

Key West’s JAG Gallery introduces a very special three day event as they partner with a Key West treasure, artist  Ann Lorraine for a unique Catherine Street garden exhibition and experience showcasing new paintings inspired by the dancers from The Coffee Mill Dance Studio during times at their former landmark location on Pohalski Street.
 
Since 1975 Ann has been an integral part of the fabric of Key West’s  Art Community, not only as an award winning artist and illustrator, and though having shown internationally, is recognized locally as a two time recipient of the  Anne McKee Grant and, along with husband, sculptor, writer and composer Bill Lorraine,  the coveted Golden Mango Award.  Ann is perhaps best known and admired  as a true force of nature while the Creative Director at the legendary Fast Buck Freddie’s on Duval Street where her extraordinary talents were manifested for over two decades through her sensational window and store displays along with extravagant and magical costumes and parade floats.

Award winning artist Michel Delgado returns to Jag Gallery with a new body of work when AGITATED CURIOSITY arrives at Jag Gallery on Saturday December 7th.  A long standing member of the Key West art community, Delgado is internationally recognized for his vibrant, evocative and very personal work, which as the artist states, “comes from a place within me that is constantly loud and growing”,  filling his canvases with intense and basic colors, crisply painted figures and shapes and meticulous detail.
 
In addition to his many awards, Delgado most recently has been named recipient of an Individual Support Grant from the prestigious, New York based Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation, one of 20 artists selected from 47 countries.

JAG GALLERY ANNOUNCES  HONORS FOR  SMALL WORKS 2024 ARTISTS

Duval Square’s JAG Gallery has announced honorees celebrating creative excellence in this year’s SMALL WORKS exhibit which opened on November 2nd. First introduced by artist and JAG Gallery founder Letty Nowak at her former gallery, The Lemonade Stand Art Studio in Bahama Village, SMALL WORKS is now in it’s 17th year, recording an unsurpassed number of entries culminating in a juried exhibition of 200 stunning works from 150 artists nationwide. 
 
This year’s Judge’s Choice was awarded to Seattle based painter Tom McIntire for his TINY PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST WHEN TINY with Honorable Mentions to Minneapolis artist Keven Lock for his mixed media PINK HARBOR and to two Key West art makers, Jordan-Mannix Lachner for her acrylic painting PETRONIA STREET 1963 and Tim Curtis for his assembled piece MANATEE TAIL.  A People’s Choice Award, voted on by the gallery visitors and online will be awarded before the end of the exhibit which continues through November 24th and can be viewed at jaggallery.art.  For additional information/inquiries contact the gallery at [email protected] or by phone at 305.407.6202

JAG GALLERY ANNOUNCES AWARDS TO SMALL WORKS 2024 ARTISTS

 Duval Square’s JAG Gallery has announced honorees for this year’s SMALL WORKS juried exhibit.  Now in it’s 17th year, the 2024 event attracted the largest ever number of entries, juried to a stunning collection of 200 2 and 3D works; paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture and assemblage, none larger than 10 inches, all from a field of talented art makers nationwide.
 
Honored at the exhibit's opening reception on November 2nd with a trophy for the Judge’s Choice Award was Tom McIntire from Seattle, WA for his 3 x 3 inch acrylic and latex painting on scrap pine, TINY PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST WHEN TINY.  Honorable Mention trophies were awarded to Minneapolis, MN based artist Keven Lock for his 10 x 10 inch acrylic and pencil on cradled board titled PINK HARBOR and to Key West’s Jordan-Mannix Lechner for PETRONIA 1963, acrylic on canvas, 10 x 10 inches and to Tim Curtis for MANATEE TAIL assembled from reclaimed bronze propeller, stainless steel and wood 7 4.5 x 1.5 in.
 
The public is invited to vote for their favorite, The People’s Choice Award, by visiting the gallery and placing their vote in person or viewing the exhibit at Jag’s online gallery at www.jaggallery.art and emailing their vote to [email protected] through November 16th.
