Montessori Children’s School
Kristin Dekeyrel – 1 to 6th grade teacher
Kristin joined our school this year and is teaching grades 1 to 6 every day. Her knowledge of lessons, ability to recognize the needs of her students, organizational skills, can do attitude, focus and consistency have truly made this year a pleasure for all. Kristin is consistently thinking about how to keep the children focused and enjoying their education during this especially difficult year. we are so thankful to have her a spart of our team and look forward to working with her for many years to come. Kristin has a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Education, Lower and Upper Certifications from Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center.

Horace O’Bryant School
Matthew Poffenberger – Middle Grades Science Teacher
Mr. Poffenberger goes above and beyond to help students at HOB. He creates highly engaging lessons and is an expert in the area of technology. As a mentor he invests a great deal of time and energy into individual students. He works hard to form relationships with students and their families, reaching out to them almost daily. He teaches six periods per day without a planning period, he coaches youth hockey in the community, and recently volunteered to co-sponsor a sixth-grade tutoring program for our Take Stock in Children students. Mr. Poffenberger is a huge asset to our HOB School community. Mr. Poffenberger has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and is certified in Elementary Education and Middle School Science (Reading and ESOL endorsed).

Poinciana Elementary School
Richard Hamilton – Grade 4 teacher
Mr. Hamilton has been teaching fourth grade co-taught, at Poinciana elementary School since the fall of 2018. Richard volunteered to serve on our site-based Back-to-School Task Force beginning this past summer, assist with our school’s rollout of VID and is an active participant of our district’s Aspiring Leadership Program. Additionally, he volunteered this school year to fill in as our Chair of the National Elementary Honor Society. Mr. Hamilton truly loves teaching, and all of his students feel loved within his classroom. Mr. Hamilton has been teaching for nearly twenty-one years. He graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Additionally, he maintains his Elementary Education, Educational Media Specialist, and Educational Leadership Certificates.

Gerald Adams Elementary School
Tina Phillips – K/1 ESE teacher
As a K-1 ESE teacher, Mrs. Phillips looks for unique strengths in each of her students and customizes learning and behavioral plans around those strengths. She greets every situation with kindness and compassion, and families know that they can count on her to unlock their child’s full potential. Her focus on whole-child development creates a natural flow between home and school and results in a learning environment that is safe, challenging, and fun. Mrs. Phillips is the epitome of a selfless educator, and we are thankful she is a GAE Dolphin! Mrs. Phillips has a Master of Education in Special Education and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Key West High School
Marjorie Rodriguez – Math Teacher
Mrs. Marjorie Rodriguez is the consummate teacher leader as Math Department Head and a colleague that seeks out ongoing professional learning to increase student achievement for all students at Key West High School. Most recently she agreed to teach an additional period, teaching 7 periods to assist our seniors in passing the math graduation requirement. In addition, she spearheads our Saturday School and tutors’ students after school. Mrs. Rodriguez is an outstanding teacher that continues to reflect excellence in Monroe County Schools. It is an honor for her to be recognized. Mrs. Rodriguez has a bachelors and master’s from the University of Florida. Winner of the Wolkowsky Award, Teacher of the Year, District Gem Award, and served on the Florida DOE committees.

Sigsbee Charter School
Kaitlyn Haas – 6th Grade Math Teacher
Katie excels in all areas of teaching and is an amazing human at the same time. Her lessons are engaging and interactive, allowing students to construct an understanding of mathematics in a way that works for each individual. She has a passion for teaching, learning and children that is contagious. Her excitement about teaching mathematics to middle schoolers has lured in even the most reticent and moody teens. They cannot help but love math and her class. Though Katie has an extraordinary background, including volunteering in Tanzania and Nicaragua. Katie has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology-Concentration in Child Development- St. Joseph’s College, a master’s degree in Elementary Education – Long Island University and AMS Elementary I-II Credential – Seacoast Center for Education and the Tom Sawyer Five Star Teacher Recognition Award.

The Basilica School
Danielle Gould – Grade 2 teacher
Ms. Gould has been teaching for 22 years, with the last 17 years being here at the Basilica School in 2nd grade. Ms. Gould’s warm heart and superb classroom management provide an ethos that is most conducive to learning. Her rapport with her students and their families is second to none. She is also a wonderful team player who goes out of her way to sponsor extracurricular activities such as the school’s Green Team. Ms. Gould attended the University of Massachusetts where she obtained her BA in Psychology and has certification in Elementary Education K to 6.

May Sands Montessori School
Sandra McCoy – Upper Elementary Lead Guide ( Grades 4 to 6)
Sandy is an engaging classroom teacher and a supportive member of our school team. In addition to holding student accountability to the school’s core values of respect for self, others, and the environment, Sandy serves as a mentor for our new and beginning teachers. She was a pioneer in our transition to remote learning, facilitating professional development for our instructional staff and earned Google Educator Level 1 certification as a result. Sandy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Central Florida. She holds teaching credentials at the state level as well as in Montessori Education. Sandy holds a Level 1 Educator certification form Google.
